empty warehouse

I'm having some trouble playing warehouse solo. When I play the "leave all the lights on" part(like on this site), it sounds terrible, empty, as if I am muting more strings than I actually am. I sounds good on L@LC, for example, only because dave has tim to back him up. I fooled around with the part, using bar chords like 577655, 557775, and 355433 to make it sound like timmy's backup part but when play that it sounds too "chordy" and is hard to song along with and play smoothly. The tab on this site flows smoothly and is easy to sing long with, but sounds hollow.

Any tips on how to make that part sound fuller and just as resonant as the rest of the song?

I just jam on these chords and I think it sounds good.. play the lower parts of the chords like you were dave.. and then pull out some of the higher notes on the up beats..

Thanks, but thats not the part I was talking about. I'm talking about the part where he sings: "the black cats changin colors..." and "we can walk under ladders..." jkanter's tab goes something like this:
5x7xxx, x(4/5)7xxx, 3x7xxx, x(4/5)7xxx, again and again
((4/5) is an upslide). It just isn't a very full sound.

oh whoops.. I thought those chords looked funny (as an afterthought) .. I play it like kanter has it.. Your right it does sound emptier than the rest of the song, but I think it is a nice contrast to the chaotic verse pattern and melodic bridge. Although I do a lot of muting that kanter doesn't specify.. anyways.. I like it empty.. if you are going to fill it, I wouldn't use the chords you choose though because you mess with the tonality of the chorus.. maybe something like adding the 7th fret on the G-string too..

it fills it up a little more but doesn't mess with the bass notes traveling and the ambiguity of the chords.
