If it is in good condition like it says, then it is just a case of no buyers willing to pay that price. The capitalist system at work.

It could also be that people are betting that it won't reach the "buy it now" price early and they are waiting until the last minute to bid.

Tempting...

If it was #41 or #34 even #36 I would get it, see if it was good and sell my #122 and keep that one. For #40, I think I'll keep mine.

Going for and actually selling are different things...most of those never sold.

However, #40 is a tempting number.....I love the song and it is rarely played, so it ties into the "limited" theme.

I agree...

and it ended at $3,551...which is a much more affordable price than those i've seen sold this year...

Other then this being Dave Matthews signature guitar, what makes it so special in comparison to say like a D-28 martin? Or, is this guitar only good to play dave matthews songs?

it has the exact sound that dave prefers. its got the right bracing system, woods, construction, and everything to play the way dave likes. for those of us that like that kind of aggressive acoustic playing, it is the perfect guitar.

Exactly, I can strum mine like a son of a gun and it won't even flinch. I put medium strings on it for that reason. It's a canon. Can't do that with the Taylors, so I put light strings on those.

I agree ricky...the switch to .13 medium elixirs made a HUGE difference in projection and overall volume...plus the extra "string clearance" allows me to really dig into my DM3MD without the sound breaking up or getting any unwanted string rattle...

Neg, they're angled. :) Seen and played 3 in person.
Ditto. Make that one though. They had one in a local store here. They were making a big fucking deal about it. I went down there and there was some 14 year old butchering Two Step on it, complete with squeaky vocals. When I got my hands on it, I ripped through parts of Jimi Thing, The Stone, WWYS with vocals and finally a little Stream. The salesguy told me I was the only person who had picked up that guitar that could play Dave worth a shit. I made a point to tell him that Stream is TR. He is now a Tim fan as I am.

Part of me wishes now though that I would have played anything BUT Dave, just to prove a point.

Suffice to say, some dildo with a lot more money than I have bought that guitar.

No. Actually East Central Iowa, which is probably why the store was acting as if Dave himself were there.

I hate going to music stores because of the people, not just 14 year olds, because I know there are younger, very talented people out there, but the people that play horribly, and loudly and think they rock.

I am always very conscious of others in a store when I am playing. Then again, I am old enough to realize that if I'm jamming out to a 4 chord progression with overdrive and the amp cranked to 11, a girl with DDs is not going to come over and go "Wow, you're great, may I blow you?" I just play because I love it, and I don't care who likes what I do or doesn't. I don't really play loud enough when I'm at stores for anyone to take note. If I'm at a gig, and there's people there, they are there to hear me. People in a store are there to browse, buy strings, etc...

The point is, most of the guys I run into at these shops are just trying to show off. They are really just proving how much they don't know. I had a guy a few weeks ago trying to jam out to some DMB with me at this shop. I finally put my guitar up, and before I walked out I stole a line from Chet Atkins and said to the kid "Boy, I've forgotten more than you know".
