i saw him on letterman last night, he played enjoy every sandwich off the warren zevon tribute album and was not half bad. hes a good singer, and while the song isnt too difficult to play, he nailed the solo and didnt screw up. too bad he was playin a strat
comments? opinions?

Sandler knows his stuff when it comes to music. It's not that surprising to see a good performance from him.

How are strats average in every way? Strats have one of the most distinct sounds out of electrics. The new american ones are overpriced, but that is why you don't get a new american one. Find one used somewhere, like I got a basically unused mexican that is better than any other strat I've played for $250 in the consignment shop. It's got the staggard pole pickups and you can't get it out of tune even bangin on the tremelo. You can find a MIM strat every once in a while that is up to par w/ americans, you just have to search for one. Then go buy a Fender Blues Junior amp for $350 and I dare you to call strats "average".

"AVERAGE"
naw jk... first of all if u gonna get a strat its gotta be american, 2nd of all they have the least distinctive sound out there. just plain electric. boring. they are the status quo and so they are boring and average. and i have nothin against fender amps/accesories. no imports are as good as american when it comes to electrics.
I dont want to argue tho. lets be nice in our discusion

I don't see how anyone can say that all fenders are just "average."

i cant speak about guitars like the mustang, only the strat and tele, the tele is better than the strat, but they are both just average. they sound like any other electric guitar and i dare say that the squiers sound almost the same. there i said it.

wrong. They have one of the most noticable. I could probably pick out what songs use strats and which ones use other guitars because so many people play strats that you get used to what they sound like.I have nothing against them..I like Tele's personally, but I just think strats are too plain..except for natural wood ones
