If you read that whole paragraph it attributes the problems to the low RH (relative humidity) not the low temperature.

Additionally, it says in the beginning of the paragraph that the problems in the winter in general come from the artificial heating we use in our houses. It also says that certain geographical areas and climates are known for their naturally low RH year round.

so then the rh is lower in the winter than in the summer

either way we both agree it is not a good idea for him to leave his guitar in his car in 0 degree weather. lets not argue
