Buzzing Strings

Unread post by 1eyed_jack » Tue Dec 14, 2004 2:09 am

ok, this is really pissing me off. On certain frets of my guitar certain strings buzz. Like on the low E, the 5th fret buzzes and on the high e, the 7th fret buzzes. Anyone know
A)why this happens
B)How to fix it
C)How much this is going to set me back.

I just had my guitar readjusted like 2 months ago too.

thanks

You should have checked all frets before buying a guitar. It buzzes because of the .... what do you call it... the bar is not leveled correctlyu

Action is the no. 1 cause.

Maybe the nut needs to be filed/raised

Neck needs to be straightened?

Take it to the shop

Could be your truss rod needs some adjusting. THis site should help
http://www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/trussrods.htm

also, if you recently changed to a lighter guage string that could be the problem. I just switched to extra lights and they buzz like mad, I recommend mediums. Thats my 2cents for today. Hope it helps.

so basically the humidifier I was using wasn't working good enough and the guitar started drying up. Unfortunatly, even if I do buy another humidifier it would take a hell of a long time to go back to normal. So for the time being, my guitar is in a "super humidifier" at the guitar shop. It will be out of comission for a few days, but good as new when it comes out.

no, its a dampit. they say its like the cheapest thing and it works the best.
its like 15 bucks, so I just need to keep it in my guitar when I'm not playing.
The weather gets dry by me since I live in Chicago

This is the best one out there, it is cheaper too. The dampit can damage your guitar, the Planet Waves doesn't touch the wood at all.
