Muting in 'Chicago' % 'Stone'

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Muting in 'Chicago' % 'Stone'

Unread post by adrianosr » Thu Jun 26, 2003 8:10 am

Hi!
I'm having trouble muting the open strings in chicago's main riff. Can anyone give me some hits?
Although it's easier, I also have trouble muting strings in stone...

ThanX

"is chicago, is not chicago" cover?

muting is being discussed in other threads...basically for the Stone, I just keep my left hand doing>>>

index mutes G B E strings...

pinky mutes E A D strings...

if that helps any...just learn to lay your fingers down without getting any tonal response and keep practicing ;)

Thanks!

Yeah, I was talking about the 'Is Chicago, Is Not Chicago' Soul Coughing Cover. There you have the main riff:

A------0-1-2-1-0-
E-0-3-------------

Wich I find hard to mute!
