#40 is not easy for a beginner and if u've not understood Dave's muting technique u cant play grey st. at all!!!

it's better to learn these songs at first!
How are you going to go against my reccomendation of Grey Street, but then condone the one of Ants. That's backwards. Grey Street was the first song I learned before I could even play regular chords...and loving wings is a though picking patter...

Ants and Grey Street were the first two I learned to play properly(strumming, muting, etc.) just a random thought...

Play the songs you like most. They're easier cuz you know the rhythm and such...

spoon is fairly easy..it's just getting the rhythm down that could give anybody trouble. in terms of playability of the chord formations, not difficult at all.

Crash, Lover Lay Down, One Sweet World. Those were the first three I learned, I think Ants is a bit hard if you haven't learned to play Dave's style personally.

Code: Select all

How can you say those are the easiest Dave songs? The stone is hard as hell to sing to, RR is all sliding, and Jimi Thing is far from easy for a Dave song...and BOWA??? that song is not easy to make sounds good for a beginner to Dave or to guitar in general. Stick to Proudest Monkey, Typical Situation, Grey St, Watchtower, or #41. STAY AWAY from songs like Warehouse, Billies, #40, and the songs above or you'll become frustrated.

i started out with the old intro to watchtower, which is by far the easiest thing on this site. i had never picked up a guitar before and this was pretty easy for me. from there, i went on to grey street, lie in our graves, too much and watchtower. i've finally worked my way up to the stone, been working a lot on that one recently. it's getting there, but definitely going to need some more time on that one.

Yes I've noticed a trend toward that in every single post regarding easy songs. I mean come on guys you're not helping anyone by misleading them. A newbie might try hard songs only to become frustrated and quit. It's great you can play those songs..hats off i think most of us can...and if you want to show off then put up some recordings in the proper forum.
