no, you tune your low E up to a G, it's dangerous.

Can't you use a capo somehow to avoid tuning so much?

You tell me, figure out a way to achieve the tuning GGDGBD with a capo.

All that tension has got to be bad for the neck...pity cause it's fun to play.

Tune your guitar to open E then use the capo on the third fret I believe. Less stress on your neck this way.

Tighten the 5th string so that it matches the pitch of the 6th string at the 7th fret (B) Tighten the 4th string so that it matches the pitch of the open 6th string (E) Tighten the 3rd string a little so that it matches the pitch of the 4th string at the 4th fret (G#)

Use capo to achieve different open chords = easy!

Shit, get a decent tuner and tune it to the right tunning, it takes like 30 seconds....This tunning is the shit anyway, fuck around with it for a few hours and you might never want to go back to standard.

I'd think the GGDGBD would have less tension than open E. Maybe if you wanted to tune to open D and the capo the 5th fret, I guess. Stone probably uses a lighter string for tuning it up. Doing that with my mediums would scare me, but I think the tension would be sort of balanced out because you're tuning the A and high E down.

Still scares me, I only tunes 'em down.
