Daughter in standard tuning

Unread post by JTR101 » Thu Dec 09, 2004 11:37 am

I'm just wondering if there is a way to play this song in standard tuning and if anybody had a tab for it possibly???

Just be nice to play it with out having to mess with the tuning !!!

Daughter
by Pearl Jam

Alone, listless,
Breakfast table in an otherwise empty room,
Young girl, violence,
Centre of her own attention.

The - mother reads aloud,
Child - tries to understand it,
Tries to make her proud.

The shades go down, it's in her head,
Painted room,
Can't deny there's something wrong.

Don't call me daughter, not fit to,
The picture kept will remind me,
Don't call me daughter, not fit to,
The picture kept will remind me,
Don't call me...

She holds the hand that holds her down,
She will - rise above!

Don't call me daughter, not fit to,
The picture kept will remind me,
Don't call me daughter, not fit to be,
The picture kept will remind me,
Don't call me daughter, not fit to,
The picture kept will remind me,
Don't call me daughter, not fit to be,
The picture kept will remind me,
Don't call me...

The shades go down...
The shades go down...
The shades go... go...

it really isn't too much work to put your guitar into the correct tuning. It's only 3 strings to change, and it does sound really cool. Actually, I don't think this song could be properly played in standard, because you really need the low G droning the whole time.

Play a G on your low E and tune your A to match it. Then tune your low E to match the one you just lowered. Then just tune your high E down to a D and you're done.

You tune your low E down to an A? Doesn't that sound like crap?

It's managable with medium guage strings.

Sort of.
