IEM preference?

Unread post by c_tietze » Thu Dec 09, 2004 12:21 pm

Lately I've been tiring of not being able to hear myself through our band even though we've been using really good floor monitors. Any suggestions for IEM's?

I once borrowed a setup but it had two ear pieces similar to headphones and I didn't care for it.

Price, availability and quality are important to me.

Thanks.

Peace,

CJT

Not worried too much about my voice, that cuts through fine. Unfortunately you don't always have the best engineer on hand ala our last show and I could not hear the guitar through the rest of the instruments, it was really tough.

I used someone's setup once and it worked for me, I liked having the perfect balance right in my ear.

Best I've used have been Shure:

Nady makes some, but they suck ass.

Instead of dropping the 800 or whatever on shures, just tell everyone to turn down, or get a new drummer. Everyone will thank you when they can hear after a gig and you wont have to turn up. it's alot easier to hear whats going on when it's quieter. let the PA do the work, no need to strain yourself.

As you know, sometimes the engineers are not as skilled as they should at mixing.

I have no problem hearing the drummer, but my guitar over the other instruments is tough, and because I consider myself to be a hack, I really need to hear myself clearly. I've played with an IEM once, and I loved it. The Shure's are expensive, but they're quality. Doubt I'll drop that much now, but we'll see.
