where do you get tabs?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

where do you get tabs?

Unread post by Jay » Sat Jun 28, 2003 11:15 pm

cause every tab for every song i want to play is wrong, and if i can tell it's wrong you've got a problem... this site has spoiled me really...

all the coldplay tabs i find are all power chords....WHY? just because you are playing a x577 D chord doesn't mean it's the right voicing or anything....arrrrrrrr

anyone have any good coldplay or radiohead or david gray or rem or counting crows or jeff buckley or wilco or anything tabs? or a place to get them?

thanks.

The problem with coldplay songs is that the guitars are almost always in weird alternate tuning. This of course makes tabbing difficult for amateurs.

For instance, I know Yellow is tuned EABGBD#.

For coldplay, I'm afraid your best odds are in tablature books.

you can generally pick up songs that are in alternate tunings....

the guitar just sounds different.. especially when strings are played open (then it becomes very obvious).

That said, it can be difficult to figure out songs in those tunings when the guitarists are playing chords within the alternate tuning (as they are differnet shapes, forms, etc).

Your best bet is to grab the tab, then listen to the song and try different voicings of the chords along with the song...

I know on the musician discussion board at antsmarching.org there is a thread stickied on the top that has links to lots of accurate tabs to most of the artists you named above...

try http://www.guitartabs.cc ...it's not always accurate but there are usually 5 or more copies of the same song if it's a popular one! just try them until you find one that sounds right...
