On sale at an evil online conglomerate (*cough* MF *cough*). While I didn't like having to buy it online, I had a 30-day money-back guarantee during which I could return it, no questions asked, and they would pay for shipping. As it turns out, they packed it very well, it came with a Martin hard case, and it had fantastic tone, so I had a wonderful experience.

I don't mean to be offensive here but i think many people here like Taylor and Martin guitars because of one thing, Dave Matthews plays them. If Dave Matthews jumped off a cliff many people here would follow him. j/k. I think it's important that you not let others sway your decision towards one company or another. I have played many Taylor's and Martin's and i've found that much of the time you're just buying the name. I do know that Washburn is known to make the best guitar for under $500 bucks and lately I've been thinking of buying a Washburn because they've come out with "Rarewood" models that look and play absolutly STUNNING for under $400. They are solid top (many solid body!) and come with unique woods from exotic places to give them a great sound. Also, you may want to look at some of these great guitars: Artwood (Ibanez), Epiphone, Alvarez. All great guitars for not an arm and a leg. You must choose a guitar that matches you're playing styles because it becomes a part of you. Follow my ideals young Grasshopper and you will become prosper. Or maybe not...

are you going to try and deny that martin and taylor are the best mass produced acoustics out there? (yeah yairi, breedlove, and some others come close) if you are denying that you are sadly mistaken. for the mid price range i agree with you completely. but you cannot compare a 500 dollar washburn to an HD-35 or a 714...

I will admit that Martin and Taylor make some damn nice guitars. I'm saying that there are a lot of people out there buying guitars just because musicians endorse them or because people say they are awsome. And this is primarily towards Taylor and also Martin. If I had two grand, hell yeah i'd go out and buy a D-35 and a fishman setup for the prestige of owning a Martin, but they're are some GREAT guitars that don't get any credit out there. And in many instances, the only differances between a Taylor and a Washburn are the name, prestige, and a thousand bucks. I must also say that the low end Martin's and Taylors are just crap. You can get a low end for like what, $500 bucks maybe? That my friends is ridiculous.

i disagree ENTIRELY no washurn can touch a taylor, hell, few washburns touch an alvarez, taylor makes the best mass produced guitars out there, martin isnt far behind. different woods are used, different bracings, different pickups, taylor now has their ES system that makes me want to cry that they pantented and no one else can get it stock. martin has some damn fine instruments as well... tell me a musician thay plays a d-15 that id buy one just cause someone plays it... i want a 714ce and a 914ce... not cause dave and mraz have used them, because ive played both, and theyre damn fine instruments.

plus, experienced artists such as dave tend to lean towards high quality equipment. if you're goin for a similira sound why not look into what they're playin?

that's what i'm talking about. people listen to artists and buy what they buy, never trying anything else. look at this washburn:

http://www.music123.com/Washburn-WD56SW-i129744.music

It's an all solid wood guitar and it looks stunning! I don't think anyone here should badmouth it unless they've played it. It even comes with a hardshell case. You cannot find a better deal than that. i've never seen such a great looking guitar and the wood is selected for the perfect sound.
