This year's tour

Unread post by GreedyLittlePig » Wed Jun 25, 2003 4:11 pm

I've heard a lot of complaints from people that this year is real mellow. My take is that this year is for fans that have been around for a long time and that is why they are playing old stuff. For the past four years they have toured for a cd and have played new stuff (LS, Everyday, BS). Now they are playing old songs because they haven't had a chance to in a while. So don't expect to go and hear 'something you want to.' Go and enjoy the show because these songs and setlists are what made DMB "The Dave Matthews Band." This tour is not about rarities, but these are the songs that they have played for years and now there is no cd to promote so we'll be hearing all kinds of songs. So don't bitch about not hearing this or that....go and enjoy the concert and expect to hear a wide range of songs.

Sorry, had to bitch because this tour is great like all the other tours and I'm tired of people telling me that is sucked and they didn't jam or this and that. Shut up and enjoy your 35 to 50 bucks that you spent because you are witnessing greatness. And greatness doesn't happen every day.

Peace and see y'all at the show,
Eric

I've seen a few but they're all complaining over stupid things. This tour is kicking some serious ass so far.

Yeah this is my first post here, but I'll just throw in that I'm goin to the two shows at Alpine valley the 5th and the 6th, and I'm pumped that they are playing mostly old stuff. I personally think their first four CDs were the greatest stuff theyve done, and cant wait to hear some of the old songs again.

I was gonna make a new thread but decided to just stick it in here.

Anyone think that the band sounds a little off so far? I know we've only had the first 5 shows or so and they're just startin', but Dave, Leroi, and Boyd all seem a little weak to me. Anyone think the same thing or am I makin stuff up?

I have noticed this, but i really wasn't surprised. Everyone I know goes on and on about Roi's stage fright, but I prefer to have faith in the man. Boyd has been weak though, coming at bad times (either early or late for his cues) and has been slightly out of tune. I think Dave is doin alright, and as usual Carter is kicking some serious ass. Stefan seems insync with things as usual. The whole fact that they've played Dreaming Tree and the Last Stop more times in the last couple of shows then they have in the last 2 years over powers these trivial things.

i feel the same way. I mean I like some stuff off Busted Stuff, but I really just like the classic stuff, and also stuff off BTCS, all that stuff is simply amazing. The new stuff is kinda..I don't know, I defintly don't like it as much.

They're definitely picking the right songs from BS (grey street, grace is gone, YNK)... although a Bartender/BEF on 7-19-03 in Selma, Texas would be absolutely delightful (hint hint Dave if you're reading this).

I feel exactly the same way. I think the Listener Supported and L@LC setlists were far better than the Folsom set. I think some of their new stuff is really lacking. The only new stuff I reall like is WTWE and Grey Street. I don't count Bartender as new cause theyve played it live for so long.

I'm diggin' the setlists so far, and for my money I don't mind "mellow" at all.

I just hope they keep it up until mid-July.
