Book: "Best of DMB for Easy Guitar" ?????

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Book: "Best of DMB for Easy Guitar" ?????

Unread post by CWMCALL » Sat Jun 28, 2003 11:41 am

I just saw a book called "Best of Dave Matthews Band For Easy Guitar"

It appears to be a book for begining guitarists that has "easier versions" of some of the bands songs. Has anyone seen or used this book, and what did you think?

Here is a link to the same book on Amazon....

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 68-1916718

Let me know.

i dont know if you are asking because you are a beginner or not, but if you are, let me just say don't buy it. you will be MUCH better off learning the songs the right way. it will be hard and frustrating and painful even, but you will learn a lot faster if you challenge yourself and in the end you'll be much better off. :D

I have that book. It was the first one I bought. Ants Marching is close, Best of Whats Around is close, Crash is pretty much wrong, Crush is very very close, (two chords wrong), Don't drink the Water is very close (except for end jam), Satellite is right on I think, as is So Much To Say, Stay has a few wrong chords, Too Much is way off (the main power chord is right, but it doesnt have the jam at all...What would you say is very wrong. All in all, just use this site, the songs aren't that hard to learn, and you'll feel much better when you learn to play them correctly.

I don't really know why they call it that. All the tabs in there are exactly the same as the tabs from the other tab books of the albums, the only difference is that this book only has the Dave part, and they have taken out all the Tim fills, etc. So, I guess it is easier to understand, but the bottom line is that this site is much more accurate.

yeah... i learned how to play acoustic guitar (and even some bass) from this site and this site alone... it wasnt until i had a little understanding when i finally asked a friend to show me some stuff on his 6 string. The only book i have ever bought was for 25 cents at a garage sale, and it was a beginner book of guitar... needless to say it was opened one time... this site kicks major ass, and i would fight anyone who thinks otherwise  ok, maybe not.. but still..

oh by the way, im not the greatest., i still suck.. just not as bad as i might have w/o this site :P

i'm sure the songs are tabbed correctly (as in if you play along with the song, it would be correct) some people just aren't in to having the songs perfect, or just like dave. after all it does say "for beginner guitar".

yeah, they do sound close....but they for the most part aren't right. i was just letting him know that it is much easier to learn from this site. even though it says "easy guitar", every tab on this site is much easier to understand than every tab in that book. plus there are videos for some of the songs here.
