victor wooten has a song called "almost 12" because it is in 11/4. pretty cool.
"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."

yes, the verse to kit kat jam is in 3/4, but it switches to 6/8 for the chorus (doesn't make that much difference though because both signatures are in triplet)

3/4 is actually a little different than 6/8. 6/8 is actually played in 2. it would be 9/8 that corresponds to 3/4.

i know that they are different, but they can be counted the same way (1..2..3..1..2..3). similar because they are divisable by three, unlike 4/4.

i don't think them both being divisable by 3 matters because time sigs do not always perform like fractions....because 4/4 and 8/8 are TOTALLY different, but by this logic, they should be the same, or at least similar...

yeah, but its easier to count them by three (or triplet)

thats what makes them similar, the fact that they can be counted in 3s. For instance, a lot of church songs i play are in 6/8. when there are two chords in one measure that split the measure in half, its easier to count 1..2..3..1..2..3, rather than 1..2..3..4..5..6. also songs in 6/8 usually are faster in tempo, than those of 3/4

its wierd but time signatures are very flexible in the way you count them. a song like the stone is in 6/8 (a fast one at that) can be counted as a very slow 4/4 because the accent comes on the '4' of the measure (kind of like every three beats counts as one)

you can count a song however you like. time signatures really only matter in musical notation. songs with a four on the bottom have quarter notes written as one beat, songs with 8 on the bottom use eighth notes as one beat.

phish has a song(you enjoy myself) with some crazy time sigs.
the guitarist is playing in 11/16
the drummer plays 7/8
and the bass player plays 5/8
and they would all meet on the 1 after a few cycles

i dont know how that works but it actually sounds pretty natural, when you listen to it.
