Where do you guys get this stuff???
Happy thanksgiving all...
I've been a frequent visitor to this site and I've been introduced to MANY songs of dave I have never heard before. I have all dave's CD's including 12-8-98, but i just viewed the post "Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors Returns" and its a great example of a song ive never heard dave play. I downloaded the mp3 and its a great song. I usually get introduced to a new dave song on these forums every week.
My question is where do you guys find these songs?....I thought i was a hardcore dave fan, but I would REALLY like to know where you guys are gettin these tracks or where your learning about them because there all so great.
All help is appreciated... Thank you
Eric

time...and these message boards. songs like heathcliffs are rare because so many people don't know about them.
dave never plays this song. he's only played it a few times. its just one of those things you know from being a fan for so long.
as for other songs, just start trading. check out the trading forum, lots of stuff going on.

You can browse through all the songs, find when/where they were played, and then snatch them off the servers.
Cheers

The slightest attention to facts suffices to refute the doctrine, which nevertheless reigns unchallenged.

Most people on here wont be of use to you because they get their information from others on here. Also, the average age of most people on here is probably 16 or 17.
The song in refernce "..Haiku Warrior" is a very old song that is never played anymore as well as a song called "Toy Soldiers". I know about these songs because I have most of DMB's early work, plus I have been faithfully listening to DMB for over 10 years now. But as someone said....Time will get you acqainted with the band's rare songs.

Thanks again guys
One more question..anyone know why dave doesn't play Heathcliff's Haiku Warriors? Or any other of his rare songs?...Like what happened to Halloween?...I know the answers could be quite complicated, but if I were Dave I'd play these rare songs a lot more..or add them in new albums..ya know? Why wouldn't he? Im sure dave fans would love to hear these songs, and Im sure dave would enjoy playing them too. Im just curious why he decideds not to play them...that just confuses me so much. Any answers?

halloween isnt rare, he just doesnt do it much cause it kills his vocal chords, and its not good to put it at the top of the set, and you dont want your voice to die in the middle of a tour from playing that song too long...dmbericstompy wrote:Thanks again guys![]()

as for older songs... he just gets tired of it, it looses its meaning, it doesnt live up to its original zest, or it just gets boring... usually when dave dislikes a song, or whatever, he'll just say "i forgot that one..." yet theres thousands of people with that recording of the song to jog his memory, he doesnt go lookin or anything, hes got copies of the song, prolly writen down the chords, just doesnt like it... i understand, i sometimes dislike my songs, i got 1 song, it keeps changing, and im tired of it to a degree, because people request is soo much, and i want the song everyone wants to hear to kick ass, and its just hard sometimes.

Yeah, i love the song "spotlight" but dave says it makes him want to puke when he plays it. He hasn't played that song since like the early nineties.

i liked in some d+t show when some guy yells for spotlight, and dave says "if that song were anything other than a song, it would be a turd, and not just a regular turd, but a too much beer and pizza turd"dmfollower wrote:Yeah, i love the song "spotlight" but dave says it makes him want to puke when he plays it.
