So I've been hammering on my guitar quite a bit this week, and doing a lot of work on the thinner sharper strings. Man my fingers are raw, but I just can't put the guitar down! I've got like two hours at school with no class, so I don't want to not bring the guitar for a day. Ah its killen me.

Anyways, my question is: Do you think its better to just keep playing it through, or give your fingers a rest day? Like, its getting to the point now where I can't push the strings down without concentrating on it. I won't bust through though because of my rock climbing, so my calluses are tough, (not thick, just tough).

I dunno, have any of you guys reached a point where it just stopped hurting, or you just began to ignore it when your fingers are raw?

I dont have that problem now...but when I had, I just gave my fingers a rest till it didnt hurt so much...just wait till the pain decreases...then keep playing!!

Yeah, I've had that happen. You really just need to try not to play for a day (at least not more than a few minutes). The next day your callouses will be stronger than before, too.

the only time my fingers ever hurt was when i played for literally 3 straight days at a lockin, but other than that, i just keep playing, and by now it never hurts

Play till they're a little sore. Break for a finite amount of time, replay. They'll be stronger from playing and then waiting.

I said gay/straight pride lockins. It's where gay, striaght, and bi people lock themselves in, hang out, and celebrate gay pride. They're supposed to be fun.
