AS I STATED BEFORE, the original post was edited. It originally was "I have a bunch of live shows available for download in my getfile, get them". THAT IS trading, and it's explicitly disallowed, on this forum, and on any other respectable trading forum.

If we start disrespecting the tapers that invested thousands of dollars in this to begin with, then we won't have tapers anymore. These rules exist for a reason.

Parade? Grow up. They were enforcing one of the few rules of this forum. This isn't that difficult of a concept.

it never said that... it showed the dates of 2 d+t shows, and the lost acoustics, and then i said "more comming" after listing videos.

i didnt originaly edit my post, all im saying is, i didnt really advertise everyone to come pick up these for trading, kukini lost allll his d+t shows, i had some stored on my PC in mp3 format cause when i send them to friends, i dont want to wait 20 minutes to send a 55 meg file when i can send then one in 4 minutes of a 5 meg... so i was puttin stuff in there figured "maybe others want in on this" if someone wants to listen to a good d+t show we shouldnt take that from them, i understand the difference between SHN and mp3 and how theres a quality issue, but i cant tell it much....

know what my friends know? jack shit, they cant tell SHN or mp3, they wont be trading, they dont know about DMBtabs or anything, they just want a d+t show, and since im the only one of my friends, except jared who does this too, none can play SHN files, only mp3, so if itll help me store, and the fact that i have to make them mp3 for them to listen, so be it. im not loosing any sleep by giving ashley the 3-6-99, or john the lost acoustics.

You're right, I forgot that it wasn't you that edited. However, I still disagree with you. I don't care whether it's easier, or more convenient, or simpler for your friends to listen to MP3 instead of the original audio the taper spread to you. The fact is that it's inconsiderate towards the tapers and the traders involved in the DMB community. If your friends want a great D+T show, send them Luther College

Once you convert to MP3, you can't go back. You've already lost 90% of the audio data forever, and polluted the trading pool. You can do whatever you want with you or your friends. Just don't trade it here.

Yeah. I didn't see the original post. But what I said still applies. You can't tell him what he can have in his getfile. Nor can you tell him what not to adverstise. Again, he is not trading but rather sharing some files he has that are "good" in his opinion.

I agree, mp3's should not be traded into a trading pool. That's obvious.
Another thing that is obvious & wrong is telling peole what they can or can not have in their "PERSONAL" shared folder.

That is my point. I could care less about the other stuff because I have all the shows I want in SHN format burded onto CD's. However, I do care when people start being dicks.

Thats what makes it wrong. Others doesn't mean for personal use. It defeats the whole purpose of the tapers saying not to convert it into mp3.

Jay....I have to admit your charge of me parading my power around these boards hit a nerve. Please spend the evening with some beers and go through all my posts in this forum....and then come back and tell me if you think I parade any power. I believe your charge is unjust. If I am wrong, please show me so and I will gladly do my best to change my ways.

I don’t think explaining that you are polluting the trading pool by putting lossy formats in your get file and then announcing in the trading forum that your get file is up for grabs is parading power.

Please take a step backwards and look at the big picture. This forum is one of the very few places in the trading community where “newbies” are not only welcome, but they are embraced. There are no stupid questions here. Here a person will not get their ass jumped all over because they do not know the “correct:” way to ask for a show. There are no inner circle trading elitists here. I truly believe that there is no other trading forum that has the “good vibe” that we have here (and that is my personal opinion only).

BUT, this is a TRADING forum none the less. And in the trading community, preserving the quality of recordings and honoring the request of the tapers is paramount.
