HElp, My great music is leading to failure due to one thing

Unread post by Tranman66 » Fri Nov 12, 2004 7:09 pm

Yes, i consider myself a good musician, i write songs and sing them. The thing is i have this asian accent due to coming to the US a little late. My songs are really good, but the voice is really killing it. I think its decent but people who are not used to it won't say that lol. How do you get rid of this accent or anyway to improve my singing?

You could probably hire a speech coach or someone like that.

Sounds like you need learn more about singing not deaccentifying.
There's a whole crap load of info on the web but for someone serious I would highly recommend a teacher.

a friend of mine is from vietnam and came when he was 16 and his accent is extremely heavy. but when he sings he sounds like a completely different person. so it is possible to drop it while singing. but post something to show us.......

my suggestion is to strip your songs down to you and one instrument. i think there's too much window dressing on this song to really even hear your voice adequately, then go from there. i can't really critique it because it feels like there is just too much going on, but that's just me.

Keep in mind I don't mean to be a dick here, I'm just trying to let you know where you're at.

Your beat sounds like a scratched cd, your rythm is completely off at times, and the lead is entry level at best.

Worry about all of that before you even begin to think about your voice. Keep learning other people's songs for a while man, and all that stuff will come.

My advice is to learn the guitar seperate from your voice. If you put them together without a solid knowledge of both than your gonna get frustrated and probably won't sound very good.

The beat is a loop created from Fruity Loops, so i wouldn't say cd scratch.

The mic is up and down at time so if you hear sudden decrease of volume, thats not my fault lol.

The lead in the background is just me improvising really quick. I didn't plan it out.

This is a draft anyway.
