what model?
hmmm, let me check. It is the one that is rectangle (long way down), blue screen with a scroll under the screen with cicular buttons on each side of te scrool. Then there are three smaller buttons (recangular/oval) under the scroll.

edit: btw, nobody has yet answered my question as to why the ipod is worth theextra mullah!
The reason they are better is because they are so innovative.

The click wheel is a feature unmatched by any mp3 player today. It's by far the best way to get through a lot of artists in a hurry, play a game, turn up and down the volume and finding a specific second in a song.

Not does the ipod hold an assload of music, it's also a portable harddrive and as such will hold any sort of file your computer will.

Apple's customer support service is unmatched. When you get an ipod, you're getting the complete package. It's not a company that has recieved your buisness and just wants to forget about you. I had a friend who dropped it, DROPPED IT, sheerly because he is an idiot and they fixed it for him 100% free at the apple store.

The interface is probably the best out of any mp3 player on the market.

As for your claims about the battery, they are unfounded especially since the new generation ipods now have 12 hours of battery life instead of 8.

The end, buy an ipod.

ipods are, BY FAR, the best mp3 player available. They have the best user interface (the scroll wheel is unbelievably convenient). You'll love how fast you can scroll through your music and all the different ways that you can sort everything. I don't know how I ever got along without one. Also, the ipod's price is comparable to your first link. You could even look into the older generation ipods, they are a lot cheaper and not much different than the newer ones.
You're not going to find anything as good as an ipod.

all mp3 players im experenced with can hod any type of file, and the amount o music one can hold is based on memory, not brand. the wheel and interface arenice but i cannot see why they are worth twice as much as mp3 players with the same memory.

If it's too expensive for you, then don't get it. We gave you our opinions. If the ipod still doesn't seem that great to you, then it becomes very simple: don't buy it.

That's weird...maybe they just hate you and your friends and family :P

Nah I've never known that to happen to anyone that has one...as a matter of fact I know someone who got hit by a car and fell on the pocket that it was in and it lived through it.
thats cool. i will say in defense of ipod that my friends are not the most carful people, specially when it comes to electronics. a friend of mine accidentally, and it was an accident, dropped some dweebs pda out a 2nd story window at school.

o yeah and i hate macs. the apple operating system angers me... i need my right click!
A battery not working isn't their fault but if a faceplate cracks, it had to be because they were doing something retarded.. I suggest the Ipod still..It's the best MP3 player for the money In my opinion
2nd that

andy,
the nomad MuVo comes in a 4GB version, i'm not sure if that'll be enough, but it's pretty good, and runs somewhere between 150 and 200 dollars...not too bad...probably could get it off ebay for 125 -150...
