Too bad we cant replace Leroi and Stefan with Vic and Jeff from Bela. think about the supreme ownage they would bring on. Or take the entire bela band and combine with dmb and subtract boring leroi and stefan.

I think Stefan is more well-suited to the band than Vic would be. Vic is a god, but sometimes people just don't jive as well, and I think he would be one of them. Now I love Jeff with all my heart, so I'll support that one :)

Tehehe.

No.

Stefan has groove. Victor has chops. As much as I love both of them, (I've even met and spoken with Vic on a number of occasions) he would just overplay the shit out of the DMB. Stefan and Victor could EASILY share the stage 100% of the time. Vic loves to get into the higher octaves on the bass - Just listen to him when he guests on 41. Plus, every single line that vic would write would have some kind of wanking slap fest in it. It's just a fact, and it wouldn't fit with dmb. Stefan's ability to write lines that don't use slap bass in the band i think is amazing and lends itself to a HUGE groove. Plus stefan and carter have a huge pocket. Vic and his brother Roy(Futureman) also have an amazing pocket of their own. Leave it as is. You have two amazing musical groups, dont fuck with em.

As for Jeff, leave him with the tones too. Without Roi I just don't think that it could ever be the same. He is such a part of DMB. Sure it's fun to have Jeff guest, but he definatley just fits with the flecktones better.

i agree with tic tacs especially with the point that if they did that then that would be braking up the group wich everyone on these boards except i guess you would hate.

both of the bands are absolutly perfect any adjustament to them would make them lessen not greaten.

tic tacs, i see exactly what your sayin about stefan fittin dmb perfectly, but i dont agree with you that vic would overplay it. he is the best bassist of all time(in my opinion, jaco obviously is up there with others) and you dont become that by overplaying stuff. he doesnt always add slap into songs, but being in flecktones, he is more of a melody simply by the nature of the band. i dont think its fair saying he wouldnt be as good as stefan in dmb. (by the way, he plays the high octaves as a guest artist for 41 because no one wants to listen to a low bass solo, even me and i play bass). vic can share the stage with anyone, thats why hes the best.

now the pocket thing, thats true, and i argee there(cept dont vic and carter have a bit of experience together?). dont know anything about what saxaphone players need to be in a band but i love lerois stuff and jeffs stuff.

you can solo anywhere you want on the bass. see LiC #41 solo. stefan needs to keep the band racially balanced.

yeah i know you CAN, im just sayin, vic chooses there probably because it sounds better there and keeps the balance of high and low...im not sure but i would think a bassline with a low solo over it would be a little too much low end.

right... i'd imagine one of the strategies of playing with another bassist is one plays in the lower register and one plays in the upper so it doesn't sound too muddy.

I recognize the amazing skill of every member of both of these bands, i meant it more towards the energy they show during shows and the way they work the crowd. Minus the two one sthat really have no affect, and add in the two from Bela that really get eveyrone going, and thats a 5 man all star team of crazy energy - Stefan needs a new jam, sorry buddy the bass dance isnt working
