bartender please

alright......as I mentioned before, a buddy of mine and I are starting a dave and tim type duo and we just got done recording bartender. IT was the first time we played it together but it turned out alright none the less. It's not perfect and we know it, but I'de be happy to hear your comments. I play lead, he sings and plays rhythm. The guitar is really clean and your lead with the DD6 is great. Playing lead on a song like this is no small feet and you pulled it off nicely.
The singing is a little shaky and lacked some punch in the verse but I was very impressed with the chorus. When he's not holding back I can see a lot of potential with his voice. The only blaring problem was the jam at the end. He is pretty much out of key the whole time. I know how hard it is to sing from the hip so-to-speak so thats understandable. Overall a very good recording.

i agree with MWR, it sounded good but the vocalist was way off at the end. it sound like he was trying to hit those notes without using falsetto (what dave does to hit those high notes) in his voice. it is nearly impossible to hit those high notes without falsetto, only a few people in the world can do that.

Thanks for the replys guys........yeah I noticed that too after listening to it, and he mentioned that sometimes he couldn't hear himself singing because my amp was a bit loud.....but yeah, good comments. Thanks to all that replied......anyone else?

Lemme qualify my comments first by saying my voice basically sucks...

Anyway, the best term I can come up with to describe his voice during the verse is "sleepy". Maybe a little more emotion there. Some of the "bended knee" choruses where done very well though. If he could carry that energy (or build up to it) in the verse, it would sound a lot better. And yeah - he butchered the jam vocals, but if he could hear himself better he probably could've compensated.

Overall I liked it. Both your and his guitar work are very good. I think with some work it could be a great cover. Keep at it!
