Goo Goo

Unread post by sbhanot » Mon May 12, 2003 11:24 am

Hey all, I'm looking for some Goo Goo Dolls tabs that don't force you to tune your high e up to a g# or something ridiculous like that - I got a good one of 'slide' with standard tuning and a capo on the first fret - does anyone know of any others?

Two Days in February is a great song in standard with capo at the second. Everything else I know is in alternate tuning, which has caused me to break many a string.

anyone else think Johnny Reznik looks kinda like a women. Or at least has womenly features. My friends who listen to Goo Goo dolls defend his masculinity, but I think he has some distincly femine features. But anyways, the goo goo dolls are really cool. always worth taking a listen to.

Yeah, those damn tunings for Goo songs are always causin me to break a string. One time I was tryin to play "Name" at like 2 in the morning on a school night (I can't remember why) and I broke my G. So at like 2:30 I'm puttin a new G on my guitar. I was so out of it the next day. So, yeah.

man, that blasted reznik and his crazy tunnings. really bugs me cuz you cant just play one of their songs then somehting else. you have to make the commitment to tunning it. and ofcoarse, im afraid of commitment. 8)

"Hey, can you play Name?"

-Yeah, just give me 5 minutes.

"Now can you play Iris?"

-Yeah, just give me another 5 minutes.

"Now can you play Slide."

-Yes, pick something else.

Wow, that is kinda weird about the string  . Anyway, I need to figure out a way to play some of those songs in standard. I love the Go-Goo Dolls but it always pissed me off when bands did alternate tunings to make songs easier to play.

Slide

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Mon Jun 09, 2003 1:11 am

I found a great tab for Slide in standard tuning...

To play with the CD, capo the first fret...

Intro/Verse: (Pick it out)
Em7
Dsus4
Cadd9
G/F#

Chorus:
Cadd9
G
Dsus4
D
Dsus2
D

Bridge:
Em7
Dsus4
Cadd9
G/B
Cadd9
Dsus4

...Just listen to the song and it will make sense...

Many people do alternate tunings to learn something new , to create something you can't just create in standard tuning , not to mention its fun to try other things

Yes alternate tunings are useful and do provide a different sound. Nick Drake is a perfect example, he was a genius. But bands like Korn that use seven-strings, tune down and then hack their way down the frets just piss me off
