Well after reading that entire thread, I'd have to say that they most certainly were not agreeing with you at the end. Everyone who disagreed with you from the get-go disagreed with you at the end.

One thing that a former employer of mine used to say to me (because I am pretty abrasive) was:

"I can instruct you to sit down 3 ways... 'Would you please have a seat?' or 'Sit down' or 'Sit your sorry ass in that fucking chair'"

Point being there are ways to say things and get your point across and not come off as a dick. Whether you consider that display of ... whatever it was ... "fun" or not, it was much more painful then "fun" to read.

I'll keep my opinion to myself in the future.

how can you say that barre chords suck? are your pansy music-school hands too weak to manage them? or do you have some noble notion that some different voicing you created is better? i simply don't understand. barre chords are easy, and they open up all sorts of new sounds to beginning players. dont diss the barre! foo!

I forced myself to be able to play bar chords in the beginning but now I don't play them at all. It's quite needless.
good, and you?

yeah, I can't play barre chords...

no, they're just unnecessary once you get past the beginning stage. They're the most basic voicing that you can do in an easier fashion like the one I left for example and in that case it allows you to change to other voicings adding to the complexity of the song. barre chords also force you to exert more energy in making the chord, and unlike other forms of stretching yourself persay, barre chords aren't worth the effort. if you don't believe me, go ask just about any trained guitarist...every single one I've talked to has said the same thing.
