my opinion of warehouse

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

my opinion of warehouse

Unread post by STLflmmkr » Mon Nov 01, 2004 8:09 pm

hey guys
im still new here so this has probably been talked about before if so im sorry to repeat

i am just now learning warehouse and i am getting really frustrated i have never had this much trouble with a song before

i know people are going to attack me but i think its daves sloppiest song(guitar) the only thing that makes it work is the fact that he is so good its complicated but it doesnt seem as intricate as satellite or many of his other songs i have always loved warehouse but as im learning to play it the guitar work just doesnt seem to be as thought out as the DMB songs im not talking about the rest of the song just the guitar playing

the fact that im having so much trouble with it could be why i feel this way
and any tips on learning it would be greatly appreciated and may change my feelings about the song

first off, use periods and commas...but I respect your opinion about warehouse, but disagree...it's top 15 for me.

What is so hard about it?

:shrugs:

It took me less then an hour to learn the intro and verse. I haven't tried beyond that. Am i missing something?

The muting is very difficult for some guitar players. It personally took me a few days of really practicing a lot.

I think it's because in order for bass to sound good...you NEED to be able to mute all of the time. so it's a necessity for me. i should be quiet now.

Yeah, I could never get this one, either.

Actually, probably the only one I can't do a reasonable facsimile of. Which is a bummer, because it's probably in my top 5 all-time favorite DMB songs.

i guess the hardest thing is getting my muting and my strumming in sync with eachother

but its wierd because i have never had any trouble with any other song except ants marching but i got it after a couple days i have been working on warehouse for a long time

i guess certain songs just come easy for people and some dont

that's fine if you think that. and i agree that it's not his most magnificent guitar, but actually i think it's one of his best.

and isn't it kinda the same pattern (at least in the beginning) as satellite.

i would definately have to disagree with that. i think it is a very intense song with great guitar. you just have to clean it up, you will understand with a bit more practice.

and we all know its in Bm cause timmy said so.
