Live Satellite String Muting(Muting in General)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Live Satellite String Muting(Muting in General)

Unread post by dmfollower » Wed Jun 04, 2003 2:45 pm

i just have a real quick dumb question about some of daves muting....
when dave plays satellite live, at about the middle of the song he starts muting all the notes and i just wanted to know if those mutes, which might not even be called mutes, is dave muting with his right hand near the nuts or is he actually hitting all the notes on the steel frets? i'm pretty sure its on the frets but i was hoping it was with his right hand cause i think i could pull that off. basically i've been havin' trouble with that part of satellite, it just sounds cool when you play it solo to do the "muting". someone correct me if its not called muting.....thanks to any replies!

Yes, it's called muting. Palm-muting to be exact. Hope this helps!
