crash strumming

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

crash strumming

I'm sorta new at the guitar, screwed around for about 2 years, but never taken it very seriously. what i have found is that the one thing that i can not do very well at all is pick up the strumming from songs. even if i have the chords right, i can never get it to sound just right for that reason. here is the tab i have from easy guitar

Pick 4, down, down, up, down?

I think what he does, or at least what i do (kay bare with me) is this (it'll be counting in my head...

downstroke downstroke
| |
Pick4[C#] (and) down (and) up-down-up-pick0[A]-down

as you come up, you mute then... repeat with the 2 (B)/0 (E) combo

dooes that make sense, i dunno, but thats what i think i do when i play that song i'm also sure he also presses the 5th fret on the B string (F)

Lol, I didnt get much of that but, at the end there you are right about he 5th fret on the B string.

ya, it was pretty hard for me to think of it too, had a few too many beers that night. The way i play it is this

1--------------2------3-----4---------5----------6--------7-------8
Pick4[C#] (and) down (and) up-down-up-pick0[A]-down

where those are the beats (or downstrokes with your strumming hand)

just practice that tune a lot. its a good song for working on strumming only 1 note at a time, but keeping the rythym with your right hand. I wonder if anyone is gonna play crash for the contest?
