low end = bass, not the lower quality martinsfilmdude100cms wrote:yes low end martins are better than low end taylors.Matty Boom wrote:you can have all the electronics you wantfilmdude100cms wrote:haha
the reason i say taylors system is better is...
its a mutli pickup design that gives the sound of a miced gutiar with pickups...
if i remember all these correctly, theres a pickup under the bridge, under the last fret, and about 3 inches down, and 2 inches over from the bridge, to pick up the entire guitar and not just the strings.
but in general, taylor has less balls than chosta and wormann combined on the low end
and i'm sure it helps when you play with those 11's too
B+P by offer only...thank you

for ur price range i suggest martin out of the two you mentioned, but i believe under a 1000 dollars that either takamine or larivee makes the best acoustic out there.

Play lots of guitars and get one that is made by hand and sounds good to you.
Tone is the most important thing when it comes to choosing an acoustic in my book.
There are many independent guitar makers who make really quality axes but they usually are very expensive.
I myself play Martin because I like the tone.

$3000 is putting you into the range where you can get a nice handbuilt from an individual luthier. I'd look into going that route.DMB_DO wrote:yeah they're about $3000. I agree, If you get a handbuilt from an individual shop you will have an excellent guitar that is unique to you. By a martin and become one of the thousands of consumerist drones. (martins do sound good soemtimes though) Look up Cumpiano guitars, Welker, Hoffman, Collings. If you like the martin sound then Collings and Welker may appeal to you. I have heard great things about cumpiano and Hoffman but have not had the pleasure to play them. PLus when you order its fun to know the guitar is being made for you
I own a Taylor 914ce and I love it...I was about to pick up a Martin HD35 about a week ago, then I played a Santa Cruz VA...a couple of hours later and...I'm the proud owner of a Santa Cruz VA. Like I said, I love my Taylor, but honestly, the SC blows away both the Taylor and the Martin.
The HD35 sounded a little muddy...the SC, well balanced, loud. Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides...it sounds so damn good. The point I'm trying to make is that I think I was looking at a Martin because it just seemed like a natural progression from having a Taylor...but I'm glad I checked out some other guitars...play many different brands before you decide and don't buy it if you don't LOVE the way it sounds. Keep trying and you'll find one that suits you.
