A while back there was a discussio on which strings dave infact does use. The gear section of the dmbtabs site states exp15 (extra lights) while others disagree and state he uses lights or possibly mediums.
Others stated that Martin exceeds D'Addario in quality, and others say if dave only would try Markley he'd be stoked.
Which would you choose as the best overall strings?

Martins are definatly better. The D'addarios sound way to twangy when you fist change them, and they wear out fast, and when they are worn they sound really flat. Martins sound amazing when you first change them, and dont wear down really fast. Much better sound than D'addarios.

Everyone knows I am an ex-markley acoustic and electric user (I switched over to DR, since they are very similar to markley, but last longer and have a brighter sound). I'll take Markley over the other two anyday (and I have used the other two more than once).

John Pearse strings, and nothing but.
The slightest attention to facts suffices to refute the doctrine, which nevertheless reigns unchallenged.

LOL, cool well I picked upa pair of Martin Marquis Phosphor Bronze Lights (.12-.54) the D'addarios exp15's(as i've used in the past) and a Pair of the Markley..Im stringing the marquis first. I'm stoked to see what different sounds I can get outta my guitar form these varying strings.
Thanks all!

I use bronze not phosphor bronze so there may be a difference there.

According to D'addarios site dave uses the EXP17 and EJ16 Models. That differes from the DMB Tabs site. Seems hard to believe something other than what the actual manufacturer claims which of their products certain artists use.

At one point, the D'addario site had Dave using EXP 15's.

Every guitar has a sound, which has to be matched with a string set.
My guitar sounds best with Martin SP+'s (for about 2 days), but since I like my strings to last until they break, I chose Elixer Nano Mediums.
