Copy of DM3MD...

Unread post by GrateDMB21 » Thu Oct 07, 2004 2:08 pm

Wonderin' if anyone has contacted Martin Guitars about making a copy of the DM3MD, with the exact woods and modifications as the DM3MD without the Dave Matthews signature? I would love to actually find and buy a DM3MD, but I pretty much realized its impossible to find a seller or have the money and patience to buy one off Ebay.

yeah it can be done. i don't remember what model the guitar is, but you can have it built to the exact specifications of the DM3MD.

it'll be a helluva lot cheaper too :)

its basically a d-35 with paduak on the back panel instead of rosewood and a wierd veneer. Other than that the differences are merely cosmetic

The red herringbone trim too would probably be the the second most expensive up grade next to the Paudauk and then the abalone rosette will cost a pretty penny too. Martin also takes forever to build custom models or so I hear from my dealer. SO if you want one place your order now and be ready to wait about a year +.

Email from Martin & Co...

We would be able to replicate that guitar.
The communication channel for Custom Instruments is to have your
prospective dealer and you fill out the forms and present it to the
Custom Shop.

The original list price on his model was $3250.

Expect increase

yup i quoted it from elderly instruments. It's was 2300. EXACT specs eccept: No, signature, no signature label, and no limited edition case as it came with. I quoted mine as a lefty with a larger neck as well

But the HD has the V-neck design as well as other features (cant think of them at the moment). I believe that is why Dave played the HD-28v as his acoustic up until they made the DM3MD

Why not get a HD-28/35 and save some money. All that stuff is cosmetic.
