What's up guys... I'm new here. I've been reading this board for a while I just never became a member until now. This board is great. I've really learned a lot from just reading and watching the videos... anyways enough with the introductions...
I've been playing for about 3 years now and i'm still using the first guitar i ever bought (yamaha F-310P

) that's why i wanna upgrade. I went to 3 different guitar centers today and the one that cought my eye was a Martin DM for $500. My question is.. do u guys think it's a good deal? If not how much would you pay for it. oh and its been barely used. It looks brand new.

My advice: Don't get a low end Martin. They aren't worth it. They're just playing on their name, thinking people will be like "Wow, a Martin guitar! only $500?!". You can find a good Alvarez, Takamine, or even Yamaha that will be a much better investment.
But yeah, my advice is to find something that's a better deal. Don't think that just because it's a Martin guitar, it's a good one.

Agreed.
I'm in the same boat as you, I had that same Yamaha when I first started playing. It's a really crappy guitar and your skills grow out of it very quickly. Get a new guitar quick!
I just bought an Alvarez AD80S for less than $500, and it's one of the best sounding guitars I've ever put my hands on. It has a high end Martin sound if that's what you're looking for. I'd suggest checking out an Alvarez, a lot of their guitars are in your price range. Also, look at a Seagull M6, very nice.

i agree that a low end martin isnt what would be ideal, but if he has his heart set on a martin... i too would agree, like a tacoma, those have really nice sounds.

thanks for the relplies...
I guess you're right... I was kinda blinded by the name "MARTIN"

. I mean I thought it was a great guitar, i played it and i loved it, it sounded beautifull. But i looked at a bunch of higher end alvarezes too and they sounded just as good if not better. I tried a couple of seagulls too, I liked the sound but they felt kinda wierd when i played them. Almost like the fret board was too wide

If you like it, get it. I like my Martin DX-1 and it's low end..but it doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as ryan's hd-28v
