I know the guitar is very deep in possiblities, but somethings just must be used... and G, F, and C are a few of them. And if you come up with something way different that doesn't "sound right" people dont like it. Come on, be more open to somethings please.

I liked it, a little rough, I'm not sure how much you've practiced your piece, but keep at it, there may be something...
G F C is NOT a "must use" prgression. you dont have to use any progression. i could probably write a million songs that didn't use either one of those chords.

on th other hand, its useful if you aren't creative.

seriously praisedave, what MWR told you to do will certainly help you more than a bunch of people from a DMB message board giving you empty criticism. you need to get better and learn more about music before you start writing it
well, for example, just in this thread i learned about the numerals representing the chord relationships...how the hell am i gonna learn that by practicing on my own. i have not the time nor money for lessons. i practice everyday for atleast an hour, but ive only been playing for 10 months or so. i hope the criticism here isnt empty...
ouch on the creativity zing btw
you really haven't learned anything about numerals yet, and of course you can learn about this stuff yourself. there are these things called books, you should check them out
for me guitar is a hobby. i dont like to read. i just like messin around on it and i thought you guys would help me get better. besides nothing i read in a book would actually stick
*sigh*

Oh I see. You just want us to be your personal musical learning assistants because you don't like to read. Besides, why should we take the time for a hobbyist who "just likes messin around". Please explain yourself.

im sayin that i know im not very good at guitar and i dont play professionaly, hence it is a hobby and i dont take lessons, hence im just messin around. nobody said you had to help me... its just a nice thing to do. i thought that was the whole point of this thread, not for everyone to be uber incredible and for everyone just to trade compliments. maybe i misunderstood recording and critiquing

Maybe there should be different forums, or a comment made on the title by those who are less skilled. I am kind of in the same position as you, have thought about posting, but knew I would get ripped apart. I can play 6 ot 7 dave songs all the way through, and other songs I am pretty close to having down pat, but could use bits and pieces fixed here and there.

That was sarcasm in that last post btw.

I'm saying you gotta learn how to crawl before you can walk. I repeat, having people critique you at this point is uber pointless.

That is why I am saying that there should be another forum for people with less skill, or something added to the title so people who are more skilled don't have to waste their time and those of us less skilled can try and help each other out.

The word "uber" should never be used again

Yeah, I think in the future Brock will be able to do this. But your still missing the overall point.

The fact is that there are a few people on these boards that are talented and think they're better than everyone else on the boards.

i don't think i agree with splitting it up like that

i think you should let people know how you're going about practicing and improving...if you're not taking it serious or don't care about improving, then who cares about helping you...but even if you suck beyond belief and want to try and get better, that's motivation enough for most people to help you
B+P by offer only...thank you

Maybe, I am. I thought you were commenting that you didn't want to be praisedave's teacher since he didn't want to take lessons. I was just saying that if their is something added to the title to let people know, then people like you wouldn't have to spend your time critiquing and other people along the same playing level with him could comment and help out those who aren't as advanced in their guitar playing.

Oh, ok Matty. I did miss that point. I didn't realize he said he wasn't trying to improve or practice. I thought MWR was saying he didn't want to help people who maybe aren't as skilled. My bad. :D

There's an obvious degree of sarcasm to my posts which I pointed out.
Considering the fact that helping people play guitar is why I come here, not to talk about bullshit in nDMBc, you should shut the fuck up Del. I think that was a pretty unfair judgement.

That's very true but if the help consists of trying to explain what I IV V is, how does that relate to posting a song?
Please tell me you see my point before I flip out. :D

I think you should flip out. What do you care where I post? I wasn't referring only to you either.
