Unread post by dpresti » Mon Oct 25, 2004 2:26 pm

Well i've made the final decision to get my 1st talor. i went to my local store today and played the 310ce, which was beautiful! i feel in love with it. plus its in my price range.. 1st of all... any owners here of that guitar, could you give me your opinions..

then i saw the 312ce, also very very nice! what are the distinct differences between these 2 guitars and, well which one is better?

they gave me prices of 310ce, 1079

and 312ce, 1119

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

difference is the body style... it effects what tone it gives... let your preference decide whats better

Expression System...

Those three knobs (volume, treble, bass); Also called an Expression System. Taylor's innovative pre-amp, you can say

I own a 414-CE w/Expression System, absolutely love it, then other people prefer the previous pre-amp featured in the older model Taylors, the Fishman Pro Blender. Thats about it

Recommend trying a 314-CE w/ES, body style is alot of more comfortable to play...

the x12 body style is more suited for very light picking and fingerstyle playing. i would suggest trying out a 314. the x14 body style is the most comfortable and versatile guitar I've played. i have a taylor dread and a 414 and i find myself playing the 414 over the dread a lot more.

the three knobs are the new ES pickup system. i love it, blows away my fishman equipped taylor.

does this price seem a little high? usually i use guitartrader to make my local shop match. its a california based company and their prices usually are much much lower than anywhere else.

That does seem a little pricey. The wonderful folks at Guitar Emporium in Louisville had it ticketed at $1340 the last time I was there and blowing in my pants playing all the guitars I can't afford.
