Another question about warehouse and yes I searched!

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Alright, I have been working on this song for a few months and pretty much got the whole song down. No problems with muting. It just sounds like I'm a little off. My question is how many times do you play each string? I play going down 7(2) 9(2) 11(1) and then coming back up I play 7(2) 9(1) 10(1). I talked to another member who said you play the first 3 twice each and the last 3 once each. I know there are pauses and mutes in there, but just checking to see how many times you are supposed to hit each string.

whats up dude. I spent over a year trying to get this song right. The way I found best to learn this song was to play along with the studio version on UTTAD. For some reason the many different intros he has used over the years really messed with me when trying to play alone. But the studio version basically starts off with the main rthymn. I found that to be easier than playing from memory or playing along with L@LC (or the many live shows abvailable over at ants!!) Now I can play it from memory anytime and I'm right on, whatever version I am playing. It just takes time. What you put into it, you get out of it. Sorry I am rambling but mother nature has been kind to me today.....

LOL. Same here in probably 30 minutes. But did you see my part about how many times each string is struck?

I realized after I posted that I didn't really answer your question. Honestly, I couldn't begin to count the strums. I really have no technical knowledge of the guitar. I just bought one and started figuring out dave and phish songs by looking at tab and playing along with cd's. I wish I could help you with the counting thing. I just sat there and strummed it out until it sounded the same. Anyway, I hope someone answers your question better than myself. Best wishes on your evening my friend, peace.

Not counting the muting i hit each note twice...once down and once up... i think it helps with the rythm of it all.

No it really has no meaning. Cotton was a neat first name and mcbride was a name on a mailbox i passed everyday on the way to school.

dude, dont worry about the way it sounds on the dvd o the cd, just play it and enjoy it. make it your own. if everyone played everything the same the world would be a boring place. i mean worrying abut the notes is one thing, but worrying abut how many times to hit them in a strumming pattern is another. come on man

let him learn the song. you know you're highly satisfied when you try to learn a song and you finally get it down to where it sounds great.

just keep moving your hand. strum the shit out of it. don't htink about how many times to hit hte string. just strum away.

I have got the rest of the song down, and I got the intro about 97% right. That's why I was trying to fine tune it, just trying to make sure the number of times I hit it instead of the rhythym being a little off.
