i don't count conciously either. i feel if you think too much, that's where you'll make mistakes. you need to feel the song. sometimes that even means changing up the timing of a song in the middle of it for effect. i.e. at a tender part you can slow it down. i don't know a thing about time signature in terms of literal structure. all i know is what ive learned on my own from experience. but you can play around during a song with signature (try to rehearse it though if you're gonna do it in a show because if it doesn't work then it could get ugly). this is easier to do when it's a solo guitar effort rather than a whole band though.

Im so damn close to e-slapping you right now.filmdude100cms wrote:i know, but were talking BK, he thinks everything is 4/4i like tictacs wrote:counting can get a bit more tricky then going to four
if anything, I thought you would have said 12/8
Ive been thinking about making a Comprehensive list of all Daves songs and their time signatures. Unfortunatley, they would just appear as useless fractions to most people

unfortunatley bk speaks the truth. i can't believe how many guitarists don't take the time to learn how to read or learn time signatures and notation. people who play fretted instruments are a lazy bunch these days.
i think that all 'musicians' should be able to read in bass and treble clef, and know time signatures, subdivision of the beat, so on and so forth. how to write, the correct way to notate, etc.
