Tim Reynolds

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

if melody is the key then id say trey takes the cake, guy can play anything he wants at will (of course i dont find him to be as mind blowing on acoustic but still - his electric style and setup is rediculous). ive been a bela fan for years and a tim fan for almost as long (of course not as long as a dave fan!) but nothing got me as crazy as trey's solos n playing at the dave n friends tour, the guy took those covers over the edge! (with tims help of course). i wont go as far as to say trey compliments dmb better or more than the others (tim gets my vote, always have always will with the shit he's pulled off during d+t shows) but i think treys got more firepower than bela... though hes still amazing, peace.

Don't know where I heard this before but it is fitting to this thread: "Bela is not a banjo player, he is an awesome musician that just happens to play the banjo...it could be any instrument really and you would still get the same result..."
If anyone ever remembers the live stuff he did when he was in Strength in Numbers...that still blows my mind to this day...nobody improvises with that much style, grace, speed and taste as Bela...IMHO.

Yeah definately man, Trey Anastasio is one of my idols. He's definately one of the most talented improv guitar players out there. If you learn more about Phish and Trey, you should read Trey's description of some of his best moments in concert throughout the years. The descriptions of his most memorable times on stage will bring tears to your eyes man. He's such a powerful guitar player and force in this universe man. Definately check him out.

you didn't say anything? i'm interested :)
Oh yeah, I guess that's a new development since you've been gone. When you agree with someone (or wish to be a pain in the ass ;)), you just quote them without saying anything.
you can only do it if you're badass though.

All or most of us know guitar well enough to rate Tim, but who here knows banjo enough to rate Bela? Besides, they're different instruments, and different kinds of musicians, both great. There's no need to compare them.

Bela is a god. Who just happens to play a banjo.
