politcal b*crap
Is it me or does it seem just a little shitty when you have these multimillion dollar artist running around the country talking all this political bullshit with concerts. If you lived in a country where you have made millions and life is probably good, why not sit back and shut the hell up. although I know this is a free speech country but this seems a little old. Just like the cliches of the sixties. I am one hell of a dave fan but my political views differ a little but i still dont let that come between music and politics. This seems like a line crossed to often. Maybe I am wrong just wanted to get some other opinions on this. (that does not mean post in here and running off at the mouth with cockiness, I just wanted to get some serious opinions,

that opinion is bullshit to me. theyre americans too, your sitting here voicing your opinion on a limited podium, they have a stage and what not. they do it because they can, and rightfully should as americans. i mean im sorry, but i just cant stand people criticizing what others say just because theyre famous.

The sixties were revolutionary in my mind. What was wrong with musicians voicing their opinions?json22 wrote:Is it me or does it seem just a little shitty when you have these multimillion dollar artist running around the country talking all this political bullshit with concerts. I think he just needs to turn down his bullhorn a little bit. ESPECIALLY after they dumped the shit into the river.json22 wrote:Is it me or does it seem just a little shitty when you have these multimillion dollar artist running around the country talking all this political bullshit with concerts. i think that the main goal of these tours and what have you is just to have people exercise their right to vote, which is very important. If dave matthews or the dixie chicks can get someone to get out and do their duty to the american democratic system (no matter who they vote for), then i say right on

I don't think Dave would be so verbal if Bush wasn't such an idiot. Alas, Bush is an Idiot and it's time for change, so Dave is doing what he thinks is best.json22 wrote:Is it me or does it seem just a little shitty when you have these multimillion dollar artist running around the country talking all this political bullshit with concerts. Look.... education, celebrity, whatever has NOTHING to do with it. If you beleive in something enough then all you need is an outlet. Everyone on the Vote for Change tour is, shocker, a MUSICIAN. They are musicians because music is their outlet for what's going on in their life.
"cliches of the 60's" I'm sorry, if you love music at all then you'd hate that statement. Yeah, bob dylan...that cliche bastard *rolls eyes*
The point of the matter is that you don't want them talking politics PROBABLY because you don't agree, or you hate people talking politics in general.
"Political Bullshit"
Hmm, I am not one to really get into politics, i'd rather play guitar and have a beer. But it's IMPORTANT so maybe you should turn on c-span once in a while and stop worrying so much about the newest drunk co-eds on "the real world".
Just to reiterate my original point. They are MUSICIANS so let them do their thing, telling them not to be political is like telling a painter he can only use certain colors.
