Best Matin guitar under $1,500

Unread post by Dave4President » Tue Oct 12, 2004 12:14 pm

Hey guys I have been playing guitar for about 3 years now. I've been saving now for awhile and can now FINALLY get a new one. Which Martin guitar do you think sounds the best for under $1,500?? Also, which guitar is it that Dave uses on the VH1 storytellers? Thanks.

Dave uses an HD-28V on Storytellers, which is my favorite Martin. (That says Martin, not Martian... I don't trust you people.)

Under $1500 I guess I would go with a D-16RGT. What kind of guitar are you looking for? Dreadnaught? What type of woods?

I love my D-16RGT. I'm not opposed to the X series either. Some "purists" think they are shit, but I like them. I have a DCX1E and I love the tone, 500 bucks.

the DCX1E, definately has a ebony fretboard, plus it also has a pretty good fishman preamp. all around its a sweet guitar, just not solid woods all the way around, but hell, its a martin.

If you can find the right place, I have seen D-28s go for about 1,600. Ask at davesguitar.com
Yes, I am in a box

I got my RGT in July for under 900. If you want anything better than that save up a few more bucks and get a HD-28... just my two cents

D-16RGT......Absolutely amazing.....although you could prob get a D-28 for AROUND $1,500 but for UNDER $1,500.......$888 from http://www.elderly.com.

I got mine there and it's the best Martin guitar for the price(obviously a "lower" end one....but with rosewood back and sides..................HOW IS THAT LOW-END w/ that Martin BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!)

I just put new strings on my D16 rgt and have been playing it a lot lately. It is such a great guitar and a great value for the price.

You can get a d35 for about 1600, but in the price range you are talking about the d16rgt is great
