what i did was look in the newspaper at weekend entertainment. If your town has that i dont know. But they have lists of all the weekend music info of bands and the places they play. i jsut write down all the places that have these bands play and than call them up and they say bring down your demo. Of all the places around here, i have yet to play any that dont pay at all. so i dont see how that would be a problem. but just some ideas to throw out there for ya. Good luck

That kind of goes hand in hand with the being in high school thing. I didn't mean that anyone would outright say to you, "you're in high school, we'll give you a gig when you graduate" If you have talent and they think you're a draw, they'll have you play there. But if you are underage, bars may sneak you in the back or something, as long as you appear of age while you're on stage, etc... I used to get sneaked in to bars for open mics before I was 21. Some bars are afraid of getting their licenses taken away or getting fined, so you may have some trouble getting gigs at places that are 21+.

yea its a bitch to find a paid gig, you have to give em a quality demo before youll get booked for a paid gig. and being 18 is only going to make it harder for you youre right. Ive played probly 6 shows or so in the past couple months (im only 20 by the way) and they have all been bars, and I have drank for free - on stage - completely smashed, at all of them . . .ahh good times. so if u have quality shit it wont matter
I have alright recordings, just not proffessional. Here they are now if you want to listen all originals:

you know you can copyright songs then if some one tries to steal them then you can suekcw wrote:Well I spend about 6 hours a day playing. I have been writing good stuff for about a year but ive been writing ever since i started. Im somewhat happy with some of of my stuff but i dont like others. I need a band to make them sound better but the recordings are obviously not proffessional. I need digital stuff. Im not going to post my original stuff on here, this may sound silly, but i dont want people to steal them. Plus the recordings suck.
This is meant to be encouraging, so please don't take it another way, but as was said before: you have to be willing to work twice as hard. 'I don't know how to do it' doesn't work, go out and learn how! Copyright stuff is relatively easy, our nation was practically founded on it. And it is free if you don't employ a copyright lawyer. Just google 'copyright process' or something and learn!kcw wrote:Well I dont know of how to do it plus I dont know if I have the money to do it.
Its just that I'm hearing a lot of excuses... I've seen kids all the time at a couple local coffee shops, playing, then they finish the set, pack up and get on a bike! They'll have an amp and a guitar and a mike stand all precariously set on their little bike, and they ride home. I saw one kid get picked up by his mom: embarrassing to some, but he did whatever it took, and it takes hard work. Get out there!
