FOR GOD'S SAKE

Unread post by fatjack » Mon Oct 11, 2004 6:38 pm

People need to stop doing covers of gravedigger. I've seen at least half a dozen of these damn things in the past month.

The song sucks, and no cover of it is going to make it better. I know you can say i don't have to listen to them (which i haven't), but that is immaterial. I'm suggesting this for your own good people. Be original. Be creative. It will make you a far better musician than covering dave matthews will...

Just for that - I'm recording Gravedigger a capella as soon as I get over this cold.

His gravedigger cover was pretty good Josh...But i agree, make your own shit guys. It will make you a much better musician if you work on your own work instead of always working on dave's stuff.. I realized this not too long ago and rarely play dave's stuff anymore..been working on some original stuff.. Be creative and work hard and someday you'll make yourself really proud with your own work

I must agree with Fatjack. I watched the Benaroya Hall DVD last night and came to the conclusion that Gravedigger is by far my least favorite Dave song. And he won a grammy for it!!!

I don't mind covers but when several different versions of the same song are all at the top of the thread it get's annoying i.e. stream, gravedigger. It's like a competition...music+competition= hella dumb.

I don't dislike Gravedigger though. He's written bigger turds than that.

everyone here in Sweden that i have played Gravedigger to (and remember Dave is NOT big here) says that Gravedigger is one of the best lyrics they have ever heard.
