Gravedigger Cover (another one)

Unread post by mangold » Sat Oct 09, 2004 2:12 pm

heres my gravedigger cover. i am not a singer. you can critique my singing but no making fun of it.(cept you greyblueant!) you can make fun of or critique my guitar, i think that parts pretty good. In the jam i made up i layered a 2nd guitar part into it which is also me. my mic sucks. played on my epi chet. this is my first attempt at a full cover. be nice bitches.

No making fun here. I won't comment on the voice because 1. you kindof asked not to and 2. since I suck at vocals I'm not qualified to anyway.

On the guitar playing, two things came to mind. I would practice on smoothing it out...it sounded choppy to me. Second, the tempo was all over the place...needs to be consistant.

Cudos on the post, since I don't have the balls to post something up here yet I admire those who do.

not bad, vocals like you said werent great, but not bad. the playing was good, but i thought some stuff was not the write notes, more of a source problem, not player problem

i think i know what you're saying but i think the "choppiness" (high trebble, muted notes, and random pickings from the chords) fits the song better than just the clean smooth chords. ill record a second version and post it with smoothness.

edit: what about the jam thing i made up

i think thats more of what i was trying to say, wrong notes because they seemed out of place.

Your mix was really weird. The vocals and main rhythm guitar should be panned dead center and the backing guitar should be panned to either side.
The guitar was decent but choppy. The vocals were you know, not that good but dont be discouraged. Almost anyone has the physical ability to sing well but some of us are born with a better sense of how to control that ability.

Chet is a great guitar, but i definitely think it sounds better with a band than solo. Vocals need practice, but i agree with MWR, almost everyone has the physical ability, you just need to hone the skills, best way to do that is with lessons.

Lesson 1: Sing in your voice, not someone elses. It will really help with your song writing too.

i dont watch that show, can you tell me who... and i had trouble matching the rythm up to the singing on this one, i had to slow it down during the verse to get all the lyrics in smoothly (to some degree) and speed it back up during the chorus to the way that it sounded good to me. again, i believe the problem lies in my singing, id be happy to post a lyricless version!
