Dave's guitar, strings, and sounds
I have a question, i play DMB style and songs, but it doesn't have that sound that he plays, kinda like a martin sound, i use Martin phosphorbrown strings on my Ibanez AEF18 to get this sound, but its hard. How do u make ur guitar sound like his?

If you wanna get the sound closest to Dave's , then you will obviously need all the equipment that he is using .... On a side note , the player has just as much to do with the sound , as the guitar and the rest of the equipment itself

Flatpicking and strumming are 2 way different things i believe .... Flatpicking is usually referred to as bluegrass lead , if im not mistaken ? Don't quote me on that though , there is so many terms out there ....Kukini wrote:Dude, flat picking gets that crisp noise coming outta the guitar. Just like strum but keep the pick flat.

a flat pick is what we know of as a pick, as opposed to a thumb pick or other pikcs that you "wear"

Well Dave uses D'arddio (sp) strings....there is an equipment list on the main page of this site.
But a good way to get any proffessional guitarists sound is to change strings regularly. The new string sound is what you would hear on an album or live.
Proffessionals change strings literally all the time. So they always have that new string sound.
But you have to know the song fairly well also. Your not going to make it sound like Dave does if you cant even play the song.
