Say Goodbye alternate lyrics Story

Unread post by DSeibel » Mon Oct 04, 2004 11:54 pm

Hey

I know Dave likes telling storys so here is a Dave story from me. Listened to a version of say goodbye for the first time recently.....I think from Luther..or storytellers....not sure..and Dave Says "We'll share some wine...maybe we'll get high"....they don't seem to be the original lyrics...? Its funny, I first heard it after spending an evening with a female friend, and we did share some wine and we did get high, we seemed to live the lyrics of that song that night.....I thought it was me just making up lyrics.....but after straightening my mind out I realized thats what he said... Anyway, just thought I would share a little Dave moment with you guys.

L@LC was before the Crash album. Hence why no one cheered when they played #41, and even said the name was #41, as well as with a few others. Also, Dave tends to improv on Say Goodbye somewhat.

yep, this is true. i've got a version where he says something like, 'this song is about a very bad idea...but it's fun and the lyrics are always changing and it's kinda cute...it's called say goodbye.'
something like that.

yeah i know all that about say goodbye and it changing still even today, but like his story was vague, and seemed a little off from the title.

i have always loved say goodbye, my wife on the other hand doesn't
songs like say bye and drive in drive out, basically any song that still needs more work in dave's opinion, he just practices them "at" the show. its a really cool thing to let the fans hear what dave is coming up with. i like that open creativity dave has. and i too still haven't heard that song live yet, but i've only seen them play six times :(
i met some guys this year at the gorge who had been to like 80 shows each. if i had the money and worked at an airport i'd have been to 80 shows as well.

I think Say Goodbye is one of his worst songs. The chorus sounds horribly sung, the lyrics are bad . . . just one of those things that doesn't hit right with me.

Wow, it's actualy one of my favorite dmb songs. It's also one of my favorites to play. I love semi wailing on the outro, then doing the falsettoes.
