Any tips?

Thanks
By A I hope you meant E. Anyways...

Mute the D string, the ringing will go away, it sounds bad if you finger pick it in my opinion. Just mute both A & D by laying your index finger accross both and strumming will sound fine.

Yeah thanks i did mean E. I have tried muting it, and i did check i was doing it properly, but still just doesnt sound right? Maybe its a few things, quality of guitar maybe? I here you said, it doesnt sound great picking it, but can it be done? Because it does still sound like it doesnt it?

Thanks again

It's all about touch I guess. It sounds fine if you mute. Picking it is fine also, it's just not as loud and you can hear sliding a lot more on the E string especially. Quality of guitar is a factor as well, what kind of guitar do you have?

Also, Stay or Leave Standard is pretty easy. IM me if you need help.

Thanks dude, the guitar im playing isnt great- its my friends! Im planning on getting one at Christmas time. You are very right about the hearing the slide, it is pretty loud. Im also in the process of learing where are you going? The start doesnt seem to bad, but watching a vid of him playing it i notice he strums a couple of strings, at certain points. Is this difficult?

Thanks

P.S what is IM?

Not too hard, just get the rythm down and you'll be playin in no time. Try the finger picked version too, it's fun to mix them up and it sounds cool.

By rhythm do you mean when the chord changes occur? I just ask cuz I didn't find that song particularly difficult.

Hey Pat,
Any chance of making a video for one particular part of stay or leave.. most of the song is fairly easy, but I struggle with one part.. And it's driving me nuts. it's this part

Lead Into "Remember we used to..."
B:-----------------10-- <---4
F#:---0-----0-------8--- <---1
D:---0-----0-----------
A:---2-----0-----------
E:---2-----2---3/9-----
B:-0-0---3-3-----------
3 (3)

If Playing w/ Capo, play as:
B:-----------------3--
F#:---0-----0----------
D:---0-----0----------
A:---2-----0---3/5----
E:---2-----2----------
B:-0-0---3-3----------
3 (3) 1

"Remember we used to..."
Think Gravedigger
B:---8------0-----0--------
F#:---8------1-----0-----3--
D:---9------2-----2-----2--
A:---10-----2-----2-----x--
E:---10-----0-----x-----x--
B:-8-8----------3-3---2-2--
1 4 2

If Playing w/ Capo, first chord played as:
E:-3--
B:-5--
G:-5--
D:-5--
A:-3--
E:----

Thanks man!

Jimi Thing Verse Help

Unread post by egans » Wed Dec 01, 2004 9:06 pm

Could someone help me with the verse in Jimi Thing? I've watched Pat's video clip over and over and I just can't seem to decipher that part of the song. Also, there seems to be a disconnect between what Pat's playing and the tab on the main portion of this site. Much thanks.

hi, are you playing with capo or with light strings in raised B tuning?

i actually don't find this part very hard, maybe you could explain your troubles a bit...
