AAAAHH!!! Best Deal Ever!

Unread post by Phish0742 » Mon Sep 27, 2004 9:32 pm

Well I took a trip to boston for the weekend and i happened to stop by guitar center. I noticed they had martin and taylor so i played them just for the hell of it. I took everyones advice from the boards and planned on gettting the Martin D-15 for $700 sometime in the next month or so. Then the salesman had me try the Martin DC-16GTE for $1350. I loved it. I knew i couldnt afford it so i started bargaining as a joke and before you know it I talked the guy down to $1050. Keep in mind that this is brand spanking new and atleast $1350 anywhere else. I had to buy it. When he rang me up he got in trouble from the manager because it was $300 off the retail price. According to the manager they lost money on the deal. It is the sweetest guitar ive ever seen in my life and plays bettter than any ive ever seen. check out this damn guitar.....http://www.guitarsetc.net/guitar_acou/m ... 86094.html. You guys need to try this...
Just thought id tell you about the best deal ever in life

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

Congrats on the new guitar. I am a Martin man and love to hear about new owners. Just a couple things though that came to my mind. #1--You can find D-15's for 599 at alot of places. 700 would be a rip off and #2--you did get a good deal on the dc-16gte but you paid a fair price. standard markdown for martin guitars is 40% off list price. the list for that guitar is 1849 and 40% off is 1109. So you did get a good deal but guitar center still charges to much for the most part unless you talk them down like you did--good job---Hope you enjoy it for a lifetime.

Tell me about the cutaway. I may want to get on down the road.

once you get to the register if the guys gives you a price, you have to get it, you can technically press charges if they dont.. given the guy was an idiot for givin you that for that price, one you got to the register he has to give it at that price.

I've been thinking about picking up a DC-16RGTE actually. Great sounding guitar.
