Oh that song

Unread post by coyoteguy » Sun Sep 26, 2004 7:09 pm

I was just wondering what song got you really into DMB; the song that made you say, "Damn, DMB is the shit," or something similar.

For me, it was #41. My friend kept telling me to listen to DMB about three years ago and I finally bought the Crash cd and the first song I fell in love with was #41.

well interesting thing, a little over 2 years ago, when WAYG came out i saw the video heard it on the radio and thought "wow, this guy dave matthews has some good music, i think his guitar playing is awesome" just from WAYG, so i went to my local guitar store, and decided to ask about lessons, soon started... 6 months later my teacher moved and i was left on my own, and i kinda drifted outa DMB, and outa guitar... but back about a year ago, i got bored one night, and i had been tryin to play what i remembered of WAYG and Typical Situation (the only dave songs i could play) when i downloaded Tripping Billies, and was blown away by this newer different side of DMB that i hadnt heard. went and got crash and i havent looked back.

Pretty much the whole crash CD...minus the title song :D . Never really liked "crash into me", not sure why. Anyways, the real grab for me was two step, billies and of course #41.

I heard the The Red Rocks version of Ants on the radio and went looking for it. Since I didnt know what it was called at the time I just bought the first live CD I saw. Turned out to be Listner Supported. I kinda threw that in the back of my CD folder and never really thought about it. It wasnt until my drum teacehr gave me the Carter Beauford video to watch. First song he plays is #41. Loved that. I found my LS CD and saw that #41 was on there. Listened to it and loved it. I then looked for Ants again, but listened to CDnow.com sound bytes to possibly hear the song. First CD on the search for "Dave Matthews" was Remember Two Things. First song on it is Ants. Went to Sam Goody and it only had Under the Table and Dreaming. I got that. Didnt like the Ants on that so much but I loved Satallite and What Would You Say. Went out and bought all the other CD's that were out at the time.

THE END!

I heard Ants Marching and Satellite when they were first on the radio back in my Junior High days and liked 'em quite a bit. Bought UTTAD and I liked it, but for one reason or another stopped listening and didn't buy any other CDs of theirs for a while. Then, a friend of mine was like "dude, you have to listen to the new Dave cd" and it was BTCS. I listened to it one day when I could soak it all in and by the time I got to The Stone I was freaking out. Then I heard Dreaming Tree, and the atmosphere that they created on CD with that song has stuck with me for a long time. So, in short...

The Stone and Dreaming Tree got me hooked.
