So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Unread post by paywad927 » Sun May 18, 2003 2:00 pm

when i play this song (which is slowly cuz im still learning it) it doesnt sound right. the last two slides in the verse dont sound the same. when i listen to an acoustic version of the song it sounds a lot different. are the tabs right? not that i dont trust jkanters tabs, because i do. maybe its just me, any info or tips on the subject are welcome.

thanx,
derek

kanters tabs are right... make sure youre playing it right and practice it until you can play it full speed.

Yeah, the tabs are deffinatley right but I throw this in with it:

Code: Select all

E:-------------------------------------------------------
B:-------------------------------------------------------
G:---------3------------------------xxx-----9------------
D:-3/5----------------5----------7--xxx-----------10--0--
A:------5-----5\6--------6\8--------xxx------------------
E:-----------------6----------8-----xxx--8-----6---------

Just two more mutes and the open d-string at the end, not much but I think it sounds good. Does anyone know if he plays that open string cuz it sounds right to me? Thanks.

It's funny that you mention that becuase it is one of the changes that I was going to be making on the tab. It was going to have parenthesis's around it because it is played sometimes and sometimes not....but it's def there. Good call!!! That will be up with the changes in a little bit

Thats pretty cool, I was gonna mention it but I figured its a pretty minor thing to bug about. Glad to see youre putting it up though, youre really gettin some shit done around here lately.

For a lot of songs, written in D or G especially, i tend to add extra open notes. it seems every song i play i add an extra E or an A on the bass before going back into the intro riffs. i do this a lot on SMTS adding the extra Bass E. or if there is a pause i'll add the D or G instead of a pause. i just can't help but do it.
