What's the advantage/disadvantage of a fretless bass anyway?

No worries I was just messing with you. When your 23 and have to pay all the bills with no cash left over for fun stuff you get a little bitter/jelous.

For not knowing about a fretless bass or just because?
I know I'm a bastard just because but come on I don't play bass.
Which reminds me. I record solo fingerstlye guitar almost exclusively and I would really like to learn some bass to enrich the recordings. Any suggestions?
Would an acoustic bass be stupid for that purpose?

Definatley go electric for recording, unless you meant upright. if you just want to record simple stuff, a fender jazz or P is usually the absolute standard for a basic tone. if you want stefan-ish tone, your gonna have to buy some equipment, or just get really lucky with a bass.

Thanks for the advice.
It would be really simple stuff just to add a bit more depth and intensity. Something with a pure, mellow and warm sound would be perfect.

The brice five blew me away with the warmth for the price. sub 400 dollars, and i think it plays better then my warwick for fingerstyle. No way it can compare to the slap and funk tone of the warwick, but i'd definatley recommend that or a fender bass for what you're looking for.

alot the music you listen to probably had its bass track recorded on a fender.

Sub $400 would def. be doable. Thanks again for the advice.
