different Les Pauls

Unread post by Tore » Wed May 14, 2003 3:11 pm

Hi.
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the Gibson Les Paul models, like the standard, studio and so on.

Thanks

I think that they also vary in weight and neck shape.

Just buy the signature and you should be happy :o

not that it matters much but the inlays and the styles are all different. custom inlays are square, studios have no pickguard....and...they are all expenisve. :P

So what guitar should I buy if I just want to start messing around with an electric?
Up til now I have only played acoustic.
I play a Martin DC-1E which to me sounds pretty good, but I kinda want to try an electric too, and I like the look of the Les Pauls, but feel free to recomend any kind.

Thanks

Fender Stratocaster, can't go wrong with the most imitated guitar in the world! I have a mexican made one which is better in quality that some of the American ones, just make sure you check it out before you buy it because the mexican ones have poor quality control.

250ish for mex
700+iish for American Standard

I am a fender fan for life!

just because it is the most imitated by lesser brands for $99 does nothing to Fenders credit...

No, but the fact that God (read: Jimi Hendrix) played one does.

I want a nice one.
I'd rather wait a bit longer so I can afford a good one, than buy a cheap guitar, and end up wanting a better one in six months.

he also had a custom SG...Strats are good for you "battle axe", but I am a Gibson/Taylor man as opposed to Fender/Martin man...its all opinion, but the single coil doesn't do it for me...
