Unread post by filmdude100cms » Sat Sep 18, 2004 10:23 pm

i know i know, 85% of his stuff is finger picked, but my problem with stream is im doin the runs, but my pick will hit a string and keep on goin, and im guess he uses like a 1.0 mm, sooo what pick does he use when he uses one.

Damn you use a very thin pick. I use as thick as I can find them and playing fast complicated stuff like Tim is easier with heavier picks. Like .96 and 1.00 and like 1.05

I cant stand using anything below a .96mm. Everything below is just too thin. I hate it when the pick is bending when your strumming. Slows you down and it makes it easier to get hung up on the strings.

im really sick of people whining about pick size and i feel this just needs to be said.

its not the size of the pick, its how you use it.

i use a .6mm dunlop nylon pick (light grey) for everything. theyre the best for strumming (never get hung up, in fact with my more complicated strumming it only helps). when i play electric i use them too. when i solo i use them.

if you can use a pick to do something, then obviously its good enough for it. dont blame something you cant do on your pick.

[/worthless rant]

umm, it kinda is the pick, like you said the .6 dont get caught up and thats why i use them, i need it to get caught up for the solo runs in stream, im doin it, im hittin the notes and the pick goes through and hits a string extra.

I agree with your statement.

It does have something to do with the pick. Not everthing, but something.

Different picks for different feels, they all feel different to everyone.

Of course, thinner are made for easier strumming, and thicker are made for easier soloing.

That's just the way it is.

I use the thicker 1.00 and .96mm for everything. I find it very easy to strum with them and solo. I guess its just personal preference.
